Mapping Your Vision
Alright back to the think tank/war room: the semester is near and gotta make some major decisions. Thought of the Day: Look at the universe as a map. No routes have been predefined, predetermined. In this sense, the map appears to present an infinite number of possibilities on how to reach your goals. How you achieve them is dependent on your decisions, actions, and ability or inability to adapt and plan to a changing world. You can either move blindly like Columbus and stumble upon a New World for which you are ill-prepared, or you can take the time to study the map like Prince Henry the Navigator, research what’s been done, capitalize on, reimagine, or repurpose existing routes while outlining new roads to generate new opportunities beneficial to your goals. Study the map and terrain to prepare your mind for the conditions ahead. Map your journey through strategic planning and factor possible and apparent risks, benefits, and opportunities. Don’t just act, plan to act. Don’t just decide, evaluate your decisions and assess once implemented. Listen with purpose. Use experiences, research, and observations to become adaptive as well as proactive. Assess yourself, your strengths, weaknesses and identify all that may divert your attention and derail your plans. In essence, become a Navigator. Select your crew of explorers and mariners, seek adventurers, recruit planters, take note of all you see along the way who can help you advance. Trust and empower them to help you make your vision possible. Because you understand, that your vision is detailed, and crafted by your ability to envision plus the footsteps of your journey. Be inspired by the impact they can generate.
