Which Pill Would You Take?
I'm not sure which pill I would choose. I was highly intelligent at 10 years old. At least I'd like to think so. I was a deep thinker, much like today. I suppose one great gem I could have used back then that I know now is an alternative to high school track. Running under the high school track & field system in the late 1990s and early 2000s is my biggest regret. The system was inherently flawed and prided itself on the exploitation of talents of track & field athletes and their personal trainers and previous coaches. I knew of this system but had no knowledge of any alternative strategies that would essentially give me visibility to colleges without running for my high school. After watching how Allyson Felix's camp handle this system to ensure her success, I now have a solution. I feel, if given the opportunity to start over, I'd have a completely different life today. Under this new solution, I could compete around the world! My student loans would be complete paid for...not by scholarships, but by sponsors. With the knowledge I have now, I'd seek out my current coach either in the 9th grade or upon graduating high school.
I'd have my dad play the lottery...a couple of times. Obviously, I would know the winning ticket in 1994 haha! I'd have my family cover the cost of our home, buy property, set aside funds for retirement, and chill. Next, I'd start a business. I had a business at 10 but it was seasonal. I'd start K-Trax, open two foundations (one for K-Trax and one for my club team). On a personal note, I'd invest funds in tech stocks and futures that will greatly appreciate over the next twenty years. I'd also open a Roth-IRA for myself and my parents. I knew of the Roth at that age but really didn't know how to start one. By today, I'd be an Olympian leading a billion dollar enterprise. I'd have my own home. No student loans. My family and I would have complete financial independence...and track & field would be greatly transformed for the better. Creating opportunity for my fellow competitors!
Then again the photo does not necessarily specify if I would be 10 years old today or 10 years old in 1994. Hmmmmm. If I am 10 years old today, then I will have to revamp my plan. I would not know of any future lottery numbers so I'd have to seek an alternative source...in which case, I would possibly face the same situation I am viewing today. How do I access these sources!??!?!?!?!?!
Now, if I took the red pill, I'd have my $50 million...still pursue K-Trax, my foundations, and covering familial expenses. However, I'd forfeit a chance at the Olympics in Track & Field.
Decisions decisions...
