Echoes from the Past: Playing Not to Lose
This post was originally written in June 12, 2006. I was 22. One year out of undergrad. These were my thoughts at the time ...
How do you live your life? Do you live out of fear and play not to lose? Or do you live in truth and play to win? I have taken many classes and have observed much. Most of the world plays not to lose. Their motivation is fear and in that fear is confusion and lies distorting how one sees their purpose and the extent of their lives. Fear is a defense mechanism. But it is the worse kind of weapon of defense. On one hand it creates the illusion that you are strong in your struggle but in your thoughts you are weak. Your dreams and your thoughts haunt you until you can no longer see yourself winning anymore. The only way you can make it through is to hold on to words that once helped give you that winning mentality...a mentality that, because of your struggle, has become foreign to you. Playing to win is an ideal state of being. It is void of weakness and full of confidence and power. If we are to live in this mindset then we are to look at the blueprint of our lives and change our perspective to one that evokes strength.
